Thanks for watching. They said it only needed a new purge bulb but something tells me it needs a lot more than that.

Fixing A Toro Mower To Run Again However We Find A New Problem
Another nice vid! I like my Toro. It’s my go-to, for the trimmer/mowing season. I swap out attachments to knock down brush, edge or trim.. it does it all! My only complaint was the leaky grommet on my fuel tank, which has since been replaced. Zero issues since then.
Four years late to the party.. If it were me, I’d say keep it. I’ve started a little “side hustle” fixing free trimmers that aren’t running and considered no good, by some. Also, I just started diagnosis on a John Deere trimmer today. I can’t quote the specific model; however, from the looks of it, mine is even older than that one! (Ex. The intake cover is held on, by a single swing-arm clamp). I’ve never seen another JD trimmer, so I hope to get it running again. Nice video, btw. Gives me a direction for some other things to check.
What is good compression for an old weed eater
Is the app called kajiji
I see a perfect engine for a push mower, a set of 4 wheels ideal for a push mower, lotsa hardware to fix other mowers plus something for the scrap man. That’s what I did with the last three edgers I had, paid off nicely!
Find out what the problem is, repair if feasible then sell or donate. Either way, please do makae a video on this item!! 😁

Hey bro what's up? Fix it up and sell it.
My Toro Recycler has a washout port, but my experience has been almost the same as yours. I've tried it, but IMO its not worth the time. I don't use it now. It amazes me how people can neglect their lawn, then expect a push mower to be able to mulch tall grass. I once saw a forum discussion where someone was complaining that their mower wasn't able to bag knee-high grass that was in standing water.
Whatever you want to do! Happy weekend!
I give these away for free.
Do that what you want to do for this edger it's your call
I’d clean it up, fix it if it’s not too much of a hassle and if you don’t need it I’d sell it
thank you
They LASTED too long. A lot of the 92000 series engines even had a plastic carburetor back in the 70s, but they STILL lasted forever.
thank you
Worthless. They don't sell. Ask me how I know.
depending on what part of the Season it is, yes these are tough to sell
Clean it up, change the oil HD30 with 20% oil stabilizer mixed in. Also It could be over filled .
thank you
Clean, service and put it for sale. I'd buy it.
thank you
My favorite push lawnmower
these are great little mowers
Put it up for sale man. Looks to be in decent condition. Someone out there's looking for a deal on an edger. Clean it up and sell it.
great idea, thank you
At least 2 you made a decent profit on , to bad on the 3rd mower though
you can't win them all, but at least it was still a landfill save.
I have this same edger and LOVE it. No issues after 2 years. I drain the fuel and run until starved to winterize and no issues. Same as my weed eater with the same engine for the last 5 years. Love your videos. I have a TurfMaster 7.5 hp lawnmower thats always hard to start, even after a carb cleaning. Going to try the valve adjustment. Thanks!
thank you, I appreciate it, and yes if it was mine, I'd try the adjustment as well
Got this same issue. Any chance you post a in depth how to??
It's not a typical repair so no I won't be doing that.
I bought one for my troybilt for $14.99 from amazonjust the other day
nice!
Hey man. How’s it goin? Everything all good?
so far so good. Summer is in full effect and just keep up with life. You?
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE very well!! My father is going to start work Monday. In a dump truck and I get to live the dream again after 3 years after he got betrayed. He’s been in the dump truck business for over 30 years. Very experienced.
Hey bro what's up? Have you tried the tap method?😂😂
what's that? you mean tap on the recoil to get it to draw the rope in?
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE yes bro. When my pull rope sticks when returning I just give it a tap with my spanner and it retracts immediately😅😅
As shop trying to make money then no. As an individual maybe. In the future it will be necessary because you won't be able to get new gas mowers probably. Especially not a Honda
you bring up a good point
I have a ryobi and the head wouldn't spin so I replaced.the shaft off my parts trimmer.
nice fix
The spring will sproing
yep
I just keep 4 in stock 😢
I like that idea!
im replacing it for a metal recoil housing
interesting idea.
What app do u use
already mentioned
Where was it mentioned
What website do u use to find these machines
I use FB marketplace and Craigslist
Why’s it got a husqvarna logo on it
It's a Husqvarna mower with a Honda engine.
what rutbster1 said.
thank you!
I recently had to service the recoil for a $20 Honda find. The spring was so gummed up with a mix of dirt, (ill-advised) oil, and corrosion that I had to clean it with a degreaser and a scotchbrite pad, then hit it with some sandpaper before reinstalling it and replacing the rope...works great now and didnt cost a dime. BTW, the problem I thought you were going to mention is the easy-to-bumble gasket order...my mower's previous owner totally screwed that up before walking away from the fix and listing it for sale.
nice work on the recoil, very persistent of you, and yes the gaskets seem to confuse a lot of people
I have one these and outbof the blue, it wont start. Normally, it will start with 1 to 2 pulls reliably. Mine has always been a little peculiar. It has to warm up before I can use the throttle and it refuses to warm up during cool whether.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like it could use a serving.
That's happened to mine twice now
yes it seems to depend on how much dirt the mower has to run over.
I just had to do that to mine yesterday
it happens more often than I like to think. But it's just byproduct of a working mower I guess
Try penetrating oil instead of brake cleaner
that might work to. Got a brand I should try?
Those are easy to take apart and clean . I would say the idle jet plugging and making them surge is the biggest problem and the second is when the home owner tries to fix it by monkeying around with the governor linkage and gets all of the carb gaskets wrong trying to fix it!
You should see the Tecumseh I was working on.. Homeowner DIY.. the linkage was in the wrong hole, slamming the throttle closed.. 🤷 Thankfully I was able to correct the issue. They also got the wrong bail cable, so the mower needed a bit of persuading to start. It shut down easy, but I had to pull the bail, then the cable, to start it.
thank you and yes those are also very common problems
sounds like you had an interesting time with it.
Replacing the carb is the thing to do
agreed
BIOIIING
Well they figure it's a Honda so they don't need to make it very good on the pull rope because it starts first pull
Nice, I like this comment
I liked the old Briggs that you wound the spring in the housing with a piece of wood and a Crescent wrench.
you mean the one with the ball bearings in it?
Don't forget the mini vice grip to keep the sping from getting sucked in !
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE The old ones that had the starter clutch with the balls that squealed when it dried up and would try to shoot the rope out or melt the starter spool.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE Yes, for the clutch but the old blower housings had a slot that the spring would fit in and you started it on the pulley and put something in the center and turned the pulley and wound the spring inside that way. The slot was on the outside of the blower housing and the slot in the spring seated in it.
Thanks, but I need no help
no problem
Dont use brake cleaner. Its eats the plastic and the rope. Use a silicone based lubricant. You can pick up a can at dollar general for a couple bucks, or hit up Tractor Supply for some better stuff.
thanks I like brake cleaner
Riley, silicone is great...IF you're lucky enough that the last guy didn't think that oil was a good idea. Otherwise you might first have to use something strong enough to dissolve a thick, glue-like crud causing friction. Enter brake cleaner (or a water-based degreaser followed by a super-light cleaning with a moisture-displacer and rust-preventer).
@@sirrebral that is a good point.
What don't you like about how they are marketed?
glad you asked, they are meant to be less work since you don't have to mix our oil and gasoline. But they forget to mention the you need to do oil changes. However, they're hoping you never change the oil so that the engine will eventually stop running.
I run everything dry before long term storage. Sometimes I’ll use aviation fuel for the last use during fall leaf cleanup, that stuff has a shelf life of years and can be left in over winter.
nice, I don't think I can get AV gas publicly here.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE should be able to get it at any small local airport. I usually buy 2 1/2 gallons for mixing two stroke fuel and for storage when necessary. It’s especially great in two stroke gear, no more rotted hoses or diaphragms, warped fuel tank lids or poor running equipment. Been using it for years and all of my old Kioritz two stroke stuff is still like new. Never changed a single fuel line or carb diaphragm in over 20 years of use. I still store them dry, though.
What kind of lawnmower was the other one they are probably rough on all their lawnmowers
the other was a snapper that's identical to this one, just a rebrand
Did you figure out what was causing it to get locked?
on this one, the wheel insert was rusted to the axle
Hello I have a Honda Mower HRR216. The self propelled doesn’t work, I adjusted the cable but nothing.
did you check to see if the belt was still on both pulleys?
